lance ralston

lead Pastor

Lance and Lynn, his wife of thirty-eight years, have three children, three grandchildren, and have lived in Oxnard for all but their first year. They began Calvary Chapel Oxnard thirty-six years ago, meeting in a park in the Southern California coastal city of Port Hueneme with a dozen people. Today, the church has 1,200 adults each Sunday. CCO’s outreach to the community includes a private Christian high school and a 24-hour low-power FM radio station, 101.5 FM, KOCC.
The ministry of CCO is centered on expository teaching of the Scriptures, verse by verse, book by book, through the entire Bible.

Pastor Lance is the author of one book, Marriage: As It Was Meant To Be. He authors the popular podcast Communio Sanctorum: History of the Christian Church (www.sanctorum.us). He holds a Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies and Ministry from Channel Islands Bible College & Seminary.                                                                                      
Lance enjoys backpacking, wood-working, working out, gardening, home improvement projects, reading, and graphic design.

sid ward

executive Pastor

Sid and Donna, his wife of forty-eight years, have two children, five grandchildren, and have lived in Oxnard for the past nineteen years. They both have doctorate degrees from University of Southern California and enjoy traveling around the world.

The ministry includes working with volunteers at CCO (Greeters, Ushers, Safety and Security). In addition, a variety of Pastoral Care (Premarital, Marriage, Grief, Baptisms, Stewardship, Mentoring, Parenting and Benevolence) and making Hospital and Home visits, as needed. Sid and Donna have taught Biblical Financial management for over twenty years. Donna is the Dean of The Urban Ministry Institute of Ventura.

Sid enjoys serving God and helping others, physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially. His hobbies include, paddle boarding, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating and travel. He loves playing with and teaching his grandchildren God’s principles for life.

John Parra

Pastor John’s aim is to simply teach the Word of God and strive to Magnify the Name of Jesus. He loves the verse by verse teaching at Calvary and attended since 1999.

John loves to run and fish the warm waters of Baja California. He’s the husband of Laura and father of Jessica, Saraí and Jonathan.

Eric's desire for the people of CCO is, “that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Col 2:2-3). Eric believes this is happening in remarkable ways and he’s excited about that.
Eric and his wife, have attended CCO for many years, and apart from a one year mission in Thailand, fighting human trafficking, Eric has been on staff since 1997. He has one son.

rob branchflower

worship pastor

Rob prayerfully prepares and leads worship for our services along with other members of the Worship Team. His focus is to shepherd the Worship Team and the people of CCO through music and worship, leading them into God’s presence. Rob and his wife Corey and their five children have been attending CCO since 2013. They love the hearts of the people here and the church’s devotion to and focus on the Word of God.

Rob and Corey are also very passionate about and engaged with helping foster and adoptive parents succeed in the calling to foster or adopt.

Jeff Atchison

Teaching & Young Adults Pastor

Jeff heads up the young adult ministry (“Refuge”) for ages 18-28. He also fills the pulpit in our church services regularly. In addition, Jeff helps out in worship ministry, counseling, works on the website, and keeps the audio tech running. Jeff has been at CCO since 2000, when he came on board as youth pastor. He transitioned into the young adults pastor role in 2016.

Jeff is married to Geneva and has three children whom they homeschool. Their home is a flurry of activities with class work, Bible study, arts and crafts, Legos, learning keyboard and guitar, dance, computer work (and play), exercise, making messes and learning to work together as a team.

Jeff loves learning new instruments. In addition to guitar, bass & keyboards, he’s learning the banjo and cello. He says, “Some people appreciate it. The others don’t know the exquisite sounds they are missing with their fingers jammed into their ears.”

Sharon Johnson

Children's minister

Sharon oversees all of the details that go into running an effective Children’s ministry. Her vision is to see children fall in love with Jesus and carry that relationship into adulthood.

She has attended CCO for 24 years. She says, “I like that we are serious about studying God’s Word and putting it into practical living. That way, others will know us by our love.”

She and her husband, Dennis enjoy working on projects together. They seem to always be laughing about something. Sharon loves spending time with her family and friends, quiet mornings, drinking chai tea lattes, eating out and experiencing new adventures.

Clarivel Dinh

Junior High youth minister

Clarivel has been on-staff since 2010. She has been involved in several ministries over the years, but currently serves the CCO community as our Junior High Youth Minister.

Occasionally, you’ll see her on the worship team on Sunday mornings.  Clarivel is wife to Tuan, and mom to Shepherd-Lewis (their son) and Swaggy P (their puppy). She enjoys books, podcasts, and powerlifting.

High school youth pastor

Jordan heads up our High School ministry along with a crew of amazing leaders. He will also lead worship on Sunday mornings sometimes. You will find him in his office with a cup of coffee and his special lighting on the weekdays and hanging out with friends on the weekends. His hopes for our High School students is that they will be truly connected with Jesus and his Church and continue to be a part of the Church after they graduate.

He’s attended CCO since 2009 and enjoys being involved with many different people who call CCO their home.

sandon yahn

video ministry

The video ministry is responsible for recording the Sunday and Wednesday teachings and uploading them to our vid-cast internet site. His other duties include producing announcement videos for church activities, then “documenting” those activities via video.

Sandon has attended CCO since 2002. He says, “What I love about is the style of teaching. It keeps God’s Word in context.”

Sandon says his calling has always been to be a storyteller. He sees making movies as the way to fulfill that call.

Sherry Cargnino

Olga Ochoa

Olga shares the love of Christ and a welcome all who visit CCO. She’s here to support the body in communicating all upcoming events.

Her family has attended Calvary since 2006. She says it’s a great place to fellowship with other believers and grow in Christ; a great bible teaching church where Jesus is the focus.

Her hobbies are enjoying the events of her five children, crafts, and sweet fellowship at bible study.

Eric Larsen

Eric wears many hats. He oversees Calvary’s own low-power FM radio station, Worship 101 Radio, as well as the Cross Reference Bookstore, and the Word from Calvary archives.

He’s attended since 1999 and says he was drawn by the teaching of God’s Word.
His hobbies are music, reading, studying the Bible. He gets to include these in his work at CCO.

Nancy Miller

Nancy assists Sharon in various aspects of Children’s Ministry from Nursery through Elementary age. She equips the volunteers with resources and assistance so they can teach their classes. Nancy has been a part of the CCO Team since 2009.
She says, “What I love about Calvary is all the ministries we have for people. And teaching through the Bible like we do is so important.”

Nancy is a real servant. She loves to help others and does so with a warm smile. She enjoys watching movies with her husband.  But her special delight is her two grandchildren and three daughters.

Bernadette Borcena

children's ministry aDMINISTRATOR

Bernadette loves working in the Children's Ministry planning events, training volunteers, leading worship and overall seeing the children learning and living God's word.

She counts it a privilege to have served in almost all areas of CCOs Children's Ministry for about 10 years, most of which is in Children's Worship with her husband, Dante.

She enjoys exploring new places to eat, movie nights with her family, and fiddling with art projects.
